Zachary Newell
Director of Instruction
Zach is known for his patience, excitement and care for every student. He believes that the number one priority of all golfers is to enjoy learning and playing the game of golf. Born and raised in Westerly, Rhode Island where he was a multi-varsity sport athlete all his life Zach found his passion for golf at the Misquamicut Golf Club. To further his passion for golf, Zach attended Johnson & Wales University to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Entertainment & Event Management with a major in Golf Management. During his first internship with the Crandon Golf Academy Zach excelled as an instructor and quickly started to grow his career. In 2014, Zach took on a full time position with the Academy where he truly found his passion for becoming a golf instructor. As a certified US Kids golf instructor Zach’s focus shifted to growing the game through Junior Golf.
As the Junior Golf Director, Zach brought new direction to the Academy in furthering the development of youth golf and the Academy’s elite golf program. Throughout the years, his students have had high success in local golf tournaments, regional golf tournaments and even the World Golf Championships. In 2022 Coach Zach had fifteen students attend and compete at the 2022 US Kids World Golf Championship. Followed by that accomplishment, Zach was awarded the Top 50 US Kids Golf Coach Award for his commitment to growing the game.
After 9 years with the Crandon Golf Academy, Zach took his passion to teaching the game of golf to Boca Raton, Florida. The new location, branded as Newell Golf, is located at the Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club. In 2022 the golf school was launched providing Juniors the opportunity to train and take their game to the next level. With state-of-the-art technology and practice facilities the Elite Golf Program has been taken to the next level.
